New California Winery Release: Sphaerics w/ Brian Ball ($60)
Le Midi takes pride in being Chicago’s cutting-edge wine bar with a constant finger on the pulse seeking out the most exciting new wine producers, and bringing them straight to our guests. We’re very excited to welcome Sphaerics to Le Midi for a deep dive into one of California’s most compelling new producers fresh off the release of their inaugural 2024 wines receiving incredible accolades across the globe.
Founded in 2022 by winemaker Laura Jones and husband Brian Ball, Sphaerics was built around a simple but ambitious idea: craft world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from some of the most privileged sites allowing the land to simply speak for itself. With a classical, detail-obsessed approach, Laura brings serious pedigree having spent five years at California's cult-winery Aubert plus time at the highly-coveted Domaine Armand Rousseau in Burgundy.
Join us for the evening alongside Brian who will be present to guide us through all four wines, and get ready to engage both your mind and your palate with some of the most exciting bottles to hit our market.
Limited bottles will be available for purchase after the tasting, and we will begin with one of our other favorite kinds of wine - Champagne! Snacks will also be provided.
2024 Overline Carneros Chardonnay ($89.99)
2024 On Days and Nights Russian River Valley Chardonnay ($111.99)
2024 If and Only If Upper Barn Vineyard Chardonnay ($179.99)
2024 Superset Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir ($111.99)
It’s May, so Rosé! ($70)
We drink rosé 365 at Le Midi, but let’s be honest, when the weather turns, it just hits different. And we’re here to help turn that up a notch.
Join us for a lineup of eight rosés we’ve hand-selected as some of the best bottles in the market right now. We’ll take you across regions and varietals to show the full range from fresh and crushable, yes, but also textured, serious, and built for way more than just the patio.
Rosé isn’t just a warm-weather fling, it’s a year-round companion. Come see why!
Because Champagne ($125)
This one really needs no introduction because, well… Champagne.
For this tasting we’re taking a slightly different approach, featuring two wines each from four producers across the region to give a deeper look at the range of styles Champagne has to offer. We’ll explore how varietal, soil, and climate shape each bottle, and what makes these wines so endlessly compelling.
We’re also excited to debut some new producers to the Le Midi lineup that we’ve been eager to share and finally get into your glass.
Here is a sneak-peek into whose bottles we will be showing…
Champagne Michel Gonet (Côte des Blancs) x 2
Champagne Marie-Courtin (Côtes des Bars) x 2
Champagne Domaine Lagille (Montagne de Reims) x 2

As a wine bar, we take our commitment to finding exceptional bottles seriously, and our spirits program is no exception. ‘Tis the Season to Drink Insane Champagne
Our second Champagne event of the month takes everything from the previous week’s tasting and turns the dial way up. We’ll be pouring some of the rarest, most premium bottles we’ve managed to get our hands on. Tonight is dedicated to true collector-level Champagne that rarely make an appearance on tasting tables.

Greatest Thanksgiving wines
What better way to spend the night before Thanksgiving than sipping your way through a lineup of incredible wines all handpicked to pair perfectly with the feast waiting on your table tomorrow?
We’ll be opening eight bottles that cover all the bases: from bright and zesty whites that cut through rich flavors, to plush, fruit-forward reds that cozy up beautifully with turkey, stuffing, and all the trimmings. Expect a few unexpected pairings and a few show-stoppers, but all of which will make selecting your favorite bottles much easier.
Every bottle we taste will be available for purchase after the event so you can take home exactly what you loved most and impress everyone at your holiday table!
Beaujolais “Cru” Day
November 20th marks France’s famous Beaujolais Nouveau Day, or as they say in France, “Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé!” It’s the day the newest vintage of Beaujolais Nouveau wines is released giving everyone a first taste of what the year’s harvest has to offer. These wines go straight from pressing to bottle making them juicy, bright, and oh-so-easy to drink.
As much as we love a good Beaujolais Nouveau, we’re putting our own Le Midi spin on the celebration. On the celebrated eve of the holiday, we’ll be diving into the best of the best from Beaujolais known as the legendary Crus. These wines come from the region’s most prized sites and represent just a small fraction of its total production.
Join us as we taste our way through some of the top Cru sites from the best winemakers in Beaujolais and showcase the bottles that capture this iconic region at its very best.
Deep Dive: Tutto Italiano
Tonight we’re not sticking to just one corner of Italy - we’re exploring it all! From the crisp, alpine wines of the north, through the rolling hills of Tuscany and Marche, down to the sunny southern coasts of Campania, and finally out to the islands of Sicily and Sardegna.
We’ll be pouring a mix of easygoing everyday wines that are ready to pop open right now alongside a few treasures built to age that we rarely ever open. Follow along with us as we make our way from north to south tasting some of the most exciting small-production wines Italy has to offer.
Spooky Blind Tasting
Since last year’s Halloween blind tasting was such a hit, we couldn’t resist bringing it back! There’s something a little spooky about blind tastings. You never know what’s lurking in your glass, but that’s exactly what makes it perfect for a little homage to Halloween.
Tonight we’ll put your palate to the test with four side-by-side blind pours challenging you to uncover the grape and guess the country of origin. Just when you think you’ve cracked the code, you might find yourself tricked (or treated).
To keep the spirit alive, we’ll have some fun Halloween swag waiting for you. Join us for an evening of mystery, mischief, and plenty of thrills!
Winemaker Series: Jason Haas w/ Tablas Creek Vineyard
Le Midi is proud to have built a reputation that extends well beyond Illinois, attracting the attention of some of the most respected figures in the wine industry. This evening, we are honored to host Jason Haas of Tablas Creek Vineyard in Paso Robles, one of the leading voices in American wine today. Jason will guide us through a tasting of nine wines, while also sharing his deep expertise on regenerative farming practices and the role of biodynamics in viticulture.
. As the son of the late Robert Haas, who co-founded Tablas Creek with the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Jason has carried forward a vision that bridges Old World tradition and New World innovation. Under his leadership, Tablas Creek became the first Regenerative Organic Certified vineyard in the United States, setting a new benchmark for sustainability and stewardship in the industry.
Beyond his work at Tablas Creek, Jason has been instrumental in advancing the “Rhône Rangers” movement, which championed Rhône varietals in California and helped establish Paso Robles as a world-class wine region. His dedication to both quality and ecological responsibility has made him a widely respected thought leader, not just in Paso Robles but across the global wine community. Tonight offers a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of the most important figures shaping the present and future of American wine.
Spicy Fall Wine Tasting
As the seasons begin to shift and cooler weather sets in, our focus turns toward more robust wines that provide greater warmth to complement Chicago’s chillier days. We will explore a curated selection of eight wines that each display a distinctive element of spice. In some cases that spice is a natural characteristic of the grape varietal; in others, it emerges from the influence of oak aging, fermentation techniques, or extended skin contact.
The interplay of spice in wine, whether it presents as peppery, herbal, clove-like, or reminiscent of baking spices, adds a compelling layer of complexity that pairs perfectly with seasonal cuisine. These stylistic nuances not only highlight the craftsmanship of the winemaker but also demonstrate how viticultural choices and cellar practices can shape a wine’s aromatic and flavor profile.
As Seth guides you through these wines, we’ll consider their versatility at the table particularly with autumnal-themed dishes!
European Showdown: Greece vs Germany
This evening we will take a focused look at two historically significant yet often underappreciated wine-producing countries: Greece and Germany. Though their styles and traditions differ greatly, both offer profound insight into the diversity of European viticulture, from indigenous grape varietals to regionally distinct winemaking techniques refined over centuries.
Representatives from Athenee Importers and The German Wine Collection will guide us through a comparative tasting of five wines from each country and lead us on a journey highlighting the unique qualities of these regions, examining how history, climate, and culture have shaped their identities in the global wine landscape.
Whether you’re a seasoned wine lover or simply curious to explore new wines, this event promises a fun journey through Greece and Germany’s viticultural history, terroir, and varietals!
Summer Champagnes
That’s right. Our popular champagne tasting is back with a focus on the linear and bright options that we feel best match with the warmer weather. Since our Winter Champagne tasting went over so well we thought we’d continue the series! Get ready for some of the best Grower Champagnes available.
Unique Wines for Sauvignon Blanc Drinkers
At Le Midi we love bringing in rare wines from around the world and we sympathize with many of our customers who look at our selections in a daze not knowing any of the selections. We will normally ask our guests what they like to drink so we can find something similar, and the number one response we get is Sauvignon Blanc.
Let us guide you through the world of wonderful white wines that exhibit the same qualities our Sauvy B lovers enjoy: bright, minerally, aromatic, and electric. After tonight you will be able to go to other destinations and show off your wine-chops by mentioning words like Pigato, Gruner Veltliner, and Assyrtiko, oh my!
Funkless Orange Wines
We have noticed a trend recently and it is in the hue of orange. Many of our guests still don’t know what orange wines are, and many others do know but then quickly realize that Le Midi stands out since we only source orange wines that aren’t funktown galore.
Come in and explore our newest additions and see why we are as discerning as we are about these unique selections.
Rosé Deep Dive
It’s that time of year! Come on in and try our our rosé selections we’ve chosen for the Summer. We will be trying selections from France, Italy, Spain, Austria and beyond so get ready for a pink rollercoaster around the world!
A Night w/ Catherine Marshall & JC Wickens
Le Midi is thrilled to announce a rare and exciting opportunity: a dual tasting event with two powerhouse South African winemakers, Cathy Marshall and JC Wickens, during their brief visit to Chicago. We are honored to host them as they showcase their beautiful wines from two distinct regions - the cool maritime climate of Elgin and the arid continental climate of Swartland.
This special tasting will take place on Thursday instead of our usual Wednesday night, as it was the only time we could secure these busy talents. To celebrate the occasion, we’re expanding the number of available tickets to give more of our customers a chance to meet them in person.
If you've been a regular at Le Midi, you know we proudly feature wines from both Cathy and JC, singing their praises from our retail wall to our by-the-glass and bottle lists. On this unforgettable evening, you'll sample four wines from each winemaker while hearing the stories behind their journeys to becoming two of South Africa’s most respected figures in wine.
This tasting promises to be one for the books and we can’t wait to share it with you!
Champagne Domaine de Bichery Tasting
In the magical world of Champagne, a few producers stand apart in a league of their own, and Champagne Domaine de Bichery is undeniably one of them. This extraordinary estate evokes awe and wonder in all who are fortunate enough to discover and experience its wines.
Husband-and-wife team Raphaël and Hannah Piconnet craft just six wines, each from exceptional organic single parcels. In just a decade, they have cultivated a devoted following. With production so limited, their wines typically appear only on the most prestigious wine lists at renowned restaurants around the world.
Le Midi is proud to offer even a small share of what reaches the Illinois market, and we’re excited to give our customers the chance to experience these rare treasures without the need for far-flung travel. We’re thrilled to be showcasing five of their of their six cuvées side by side for a night you won’t soon forget!
