A. Christmann

PFALZ, GERMANY |  2021

A. Christmann is one of the legendary estates of the Pfalz, with a family history of viticulture in the region dating back to the late 16th century. With holdings in some of the Pfalz’s most esteemed vineyard sites, the Christmann family is committed to doing things the right way—practicing biodynamic viticulture, harvesting grapes by hand, and carefully managing yields. The estate has been a proud member of the VDP since 1994.

Today, the estate - named after Henriette Häusser’s son, Arnold—is run by the seventh generation under Steffen Christmann and his daughter, Sophie. Their focus is on dry wines, which best suit the region’s growing conditions. Of all Germany’s wine regions, the Pfalz has the warmest climate, resulting in wines with greater body and slightly softer acidity compared to those from cooler areas.

The 2021 vintage was a true Riesling lover’s year in the Pfalz. A cool growing season delivered grapes with exceptional natural acidity. This cuvée offers remarkable value from one of Germany’s top producers.

The wine opens with beautiful aromas of red apple, lemon, and crushed stone. On the palate, it’s vibrant yet weightless, finishing with bright, mouthwatering acidity. Bone-dry and versatile at the table, it pairs effortlessly with everything from oysters to pork schnitzel.
