Lapierre "Raisins Gaulois"
BEAUJOLAIS, FRANCE | 2024
You ever ask a wine lover what their favorite wine is? If they are a serious wine nerd, there will be a more than momentary pause as they rack their brain for that crazy complex wine that they sat on in their cellar for a decade and opened up with a well-planned “throwdown” dinner.

What if you asked a different question from the same person? Perhaps, asking what their favorite “crusher” wine is? (Crusher wine = a wine that you drink copious amounts of, and in a much more casual setting) Totally different answer, yet the wine itself is every bit as enjoyable.

Above all, drinking wine is a pleasure, and the variety between that “favorite wine” and “crusher wine” is what makes it such a broad and interesting topic.

This wine from legendary producer, Lapierre, run by brother and sister, Mathieu and Camille Lapierre is the perfect example of that latter “crushable type.” In fact, “Raisins Gaulois” was purposefully produced to be a simple, juicy, chill-able and above all, easy to drink wine.

100% Gamay, the majority of the fruit coming from the organic family vineyards in the Morgon cru of Beaujolais. Labeled as a Vin de France because the family surpasses the limited yields in the appellation.

The resulting wine is exactly what you want to drink when looking for something truly easy and delicious. Bright aromas of cherry, flowers and spice, on the palate, it seamlessly glides across showing off pure fruit and bright acidity. Just try not to finish the bottle at a quick clip.

With Thanksgiving coming up, we couldn’t resist this wine, which is a perfect match for the meal.
