Hello Le Midi subscribers!

So many new wines by the glass have arrived and we cannot wait to show you what we have up our sleeve. One of our new favorites is mentioned below, but not much of it is made so jump on it while we can keep it in stock.

We also have a really fun tasting coming this Wednesday that’s a little different from our normal tastings featuring spirits from one of our favorite small-batch producers from New York. Not only is one of the owners of the distillery here to guide you through the bottles, but he will also be making cocktails with them and educating on how to build the perfect bar at home.

March has taken off to a great start, and we are giddy with all of the things that will be happening here soon. Summer is right around the corner, and we are making sure it’s going to be one of the best ones yet.

I Custodi “Pistus”,
Etna Rosso, Sicily

Situated amidst the rugged slopes of Mount Etna, I Custodi has emerged as a beacon of excellence in Sicilian winemaking, particularly celebrated for its Etna wines. The winery's moniker, "The Guardians," underscores its role in preserving and promoting the rich viticultural heritage of the region. Nestled in the volcanic terrain, I Custodi benefits from a unique terroir that imparts distinctive characteristics to its wines.

What truly distinguishes I Custodi is its unwavering commitment to organic and biodynamic farming practices. By embracing sustainable viticulture, the estate endeavors to nurture healthy vines and authentically express the terroir's essence in every bottle. Central to I Custodi's success is its reverence for indigenous Sicilian grape varieties, notably Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. These resilient vines thrive in the volcanic soils of Mount Etna, yielding wines renowned for their finesse, complexity, and longevity. Through meticulous vineyard management and minimal intervention in the cellar, I Custodi ensures that each wine faithfully reflects the unique terroir from which it originates.

Among its stellar lineup, "Pistus" stands as a shining example of the estate's prowess. “Pistus” is Custodi’s younger-vine blend of unoaked 80% Nerello Mascalese & 20% Nerello Capuccio showing a deep ruby hue that offers a tantalizing glimpse into the concentration and richness held within. On the nose, an enchanting bouquet unfolds, weaving together ripe red fruits, delicate florals, and underlying hints of volcanic minerality. The palate is incredible: juicy red berries harmonize with savory herbal notes, all framed by fine-grained tannins and lively acidity. With a lingering finish that leaves a lasting impression, "Pistus" epitomizes the artistry and passion that define I Custodi's winemaking philosophy. Annual production of this wine is around 2,500 cases so not a lot to go around!
