We are happy to let you know that some great things will be happening with our patio upgrade this summer, so we hope you are as excited as we are! If you enjoy bistro-style cafés in Europe, you’re going to be in for a treat.

We had a great Loire Valley wine tasting the other night and one of the wines will be featured below, so if you missed out, you can still partake. We have sold all seats for next week’s Southern Hemisphere tasting, but don’t let that keep you from coming in and enjoying our other options. We do stay open during Wednesday tastings and all of our front tables are available. In case you’re worried about getting a seat, be sure to book a “Midi Experience” for 2 to reserve your own table!

In 2018 I was invited to join the Pinot Forum: a three-day journey through Sonoma Coast’s Russian River Valley exclusively for wine professionals. In this group of about 30, I encountered unforgettable personalities, sampled extraordinary wines, and realized that after indulging in said wine the majority of every day, early mornings were not my forte. Nonetheless, this journey was defined by captivating characters and the exploration of wines that challenged and impressed my understanding of Sonoma Coast wines.

One of the trip's defining moments was the opportunity to meet Fred Scherrer at his eponymous winery. A towering yet unassuming presence, Fred's soft-spoken demeanor belied a wicked sense of humor and an unparalleled skill in the craft of Russian River wines. His wines, ranging from robust Pinot Noirs to elegant Zinfandels, left an indelible mark on my opinion of this region. Among them, the then recently released 2014 RRV Pinot Noir stood out—a preview of future greatness. Tasting it during my visit, I recognized its potential to evolve into something truly extraordinary with time in the bottle. Now, as the wine approaches its tenth year, it has blossomed into a real beauty that showcases its journey from youthful primary fruits to the nuanced complexities that a well-made aged Pinot Noir exhibits.

We are privileged to offer this limited library release of the 2014 vintage as it is a fine example of Fred's alchemy with the Pinot varietal. Originally showing primary fruits of cranberry, morello cherry and cola, it has now evolved with notes of forest floor, cardamom, dried roses, and sandalwood embodying the essence of Russian River Valley terroir. Come in and try before it disappears!
